A Day in Vancouver

It’s nice to be in a compact city and be able to walk to (almost) everything. We walked to the other side of the peninsula and got a ferry to artsy little Granville Island. Lunch at the busy Public Market and then wandered among the artisan shops. In the afternoon it was jazz in another part of town, part of the ongoing International Jazz Festival. French farmhouse dinner. My watch congratulated me on a record number of minutes of exercise (walking).

This town is soccer (sorry, football) crazy right now. Everything (including the ferry, as you can see) is decorated with soccer balls. There’s a mini soccer field in the hotel lobby. There was a huge boisterous watch party on Granville Island and Canada wasn’t even playing.
