Welcome

J was lying in a hospital bed, recovering from cancer surgery. He was being fed through a tube in his side directly to his intestine, bypassing his recovering stomach. I said, “When you get to the point where you can eat normally, I’ll take you wherever you want for dinner.” He answered, “Paris.”  I thought he wouldn’t remember this conversation, but he did. So Paris it is.

We used airline miles, which limited our choices. We couldn’t do Paris easily, but we could fly to Frankfurt and back from London. Here’s the plan. Fly to Frankfurt, take the train to Paris, rent a car and drive west. A few days in Normandy, a few days between there and Burgundy, a couple days in Burgundy, and dinner in Paris. Several dinners in Paris. Take the Chunnel for a few days in London. Fly home.

We will blog every day, though we may not post every day if we find ourselves out in the countryside without internet. Thanks for following our adventures.
